School And Your Period

School And Your Period

Getting your period at school can be scary sometimes. You’re just minding your business in class, listening to your math teacher talk about fractions (which you actually will have to use later in life, just FYI) when BAM, you feel like you've just gotten your period. You rush out of class to go to the bathroom to try to save your underwear and you realize you don't have anything to save you from your period. You run over to the nurse hoping that you don't bleed through anything on your way over. You ask the nurse for a pad only for her to give you something so thick you're sure it won't even fit you. But this post isn't meant to scare you into thinking this is going to happen to you. It’s to help you never have an experience like this! Here are a few things you should have or keep with you at school after you've started your first period.

Ruby Love Period Underwear

This is great to wear when you think you should be starting your period soon, but you're not quite sure of the exact day because you're still a little irregular (which is totally normal and will get better over time). They hold up to 2.5 tampons worth of blood so they are perfect if you end up starting your period in the middle of class but can't get up right away to put on a pad. They come in tons of cute prints and colors and are made specifically to collect your flow without letting any leaks or stains ruin your day!

Ibuprofen

For this one, it is best to ask your parents if you can take this to school. You might even need a doctor’s note to let you bring it in. This will be great if you are prone to cramps and headaches during your period. You don't want your period to get in the way of you being able to learn at school and who can learn when it feels like someone is stabbing you in the uterus a bunch of times?! Not me, that's who! It’ll really make you feel so much better in a matter of minutes and you’ll be able to go right back to learning all the things.

Double-Sided Pad

These are awesome if you start your period at school and you know it's going to be a heavy day. You can keep a few of these in your locker for those “just in case” moments. As long as you are already wearing your Ruby Love period panties, then you are all set to go with one of these bad boys. All you need to do is secure it inside the dri-tech mesh and it will stay in place all day long and keep you even more leak free for those heavier days. You can buy these double-sided pads here!

Chocolate

Don’t let anyone else know you keep chocolate in your backpack or locker. That's rule number one. Rule number two is that it SHOULD be dark chocolate. It doesn't have to be, but dark chocolate is actually pretty good for you when you are on your period. It can help with any cramps you may be having and also tastes super good.

See? Getting your period during school isn't as scary as it seems! Just keep your head held high and nothing can bother you during this time of the month!
